The City of Calistoga has adopted the use of and abides by the
City of Santa Rosa Construction Standards.
Streets and Sidewalks
Street crews are responsible for all maintenance within the Public Right-of-Way(ROW), including pavement and some sidewalk repairs, storm drainage structures, general street sweeping, striping of crosswalk areas, maintenance and installation of street signs and speed limit signs, and other related tasks.
Much of the work within this division is to keep a vigilant eye open for possible problems or safety hazards involving your streets, sidewalks, and storm drains located within the Public Right of Way(ROW). Staff watches for all types of potential hazards, some of which include the following: hanging utility lines over streets or sidewalks, street potholes, missing or damaged traffic signage, broken tree limbs over streets or sidewalks, sidewalk disrepairs, storm drain blockages, and any other unforeseen safety problems.
The Street Division also provides assistance to other City departments where specialized skills or equipment are needed. Those duties are as varied as helping out the Police Department with traffic closures during special holiday parades.
All water going to the city storm drains eventually runs to the Napa River then onward to the ocean. In an age of environmental awareness, there have been new additional laws to support the advance of a ‘greener’ world. Consequently, unlawful discharges into any storm drain will result in a violation and fine according to county, state and federal law. The City of Calistoga has adopted CMC Ordinance 707 a State regulated program, known as the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). Calistoga has adopted the BASMAA Post-Construction Manual for Design Guidance for Stormwater Treatment and Control for Projects. Also an information flyer for Erosion & Sediment Control Measures for construction projects is available.
If you have any hazards or immediate problems to report, please call Public Works (707) 942-2828, or, if after hours, call Police Dispatch at (707) 942-2810.
