City of Calistoga
Notice of Intent
Adopt an Initial Study Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Calistoga Riverside Ponds Project
Notice is hereby given that the City of Calistoga has released a Notice of Intent (NOI) to adopt an Initial Study/Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for the Calistoga Riverside Ponds Project located at the Dunaweal Wastewater Treatment Plant in the City of Calistoga.
The proposed Project would protect the City of Calistoga WWTP riverside ponds, WWTP headworks structure, and associated critical infrastructure from flooding, erosion, and catastrophic bank failure that currently threatens the continuous uninterrupted operation of the WWTP. Components of the proposed Project include relocation of the four riverside ponds to two riverside ponds, realignment of river channels away from existing infrastructure, restoration of riparian vegetation buffers, stabilization of channel banks, and associated drainage and underground utilities (i.e., stormwater conveyance ditch, pipes, and effluent pump stations).
No temporary construction easements or land acquisitions would be required for construction of the proposed Project, as it is located on an existing City of Calistoga Right of Way. The IS/MND addresses potential direct, indirect, and cumulative impacts of Project construction, operation, and maintenance.
The Final IS/MND also will include information based on comments received during the 30-day public comment period, from August 29, 2019, through September 30, 2019. The Draft IS/MND can be viewed online at the following URL: http://www.ci.calistoga.ca.us/city-hall/departments-services/public-works-department/capital-projects/ceqa-california-environmental-quality-act.
The Draft IS/MND is also available for public review by request at the Calistoga Branch Library at 1108 Myrtle St., Calistoga, CA 94515.
Comments may be submitted in writing during the 30-day review period to: Derek Rayner, City of Calistoga, Public Works Department, 414 Washington Street, Calistoga, CA 94515; or by email to email@example.com. If you would like to request the NOI and or have any questions, please contact (707) 942-2828.
