Local Appointments List

The City Council from time-to-time establishes local advisory boards, committees and commissions by ordinance or resolution. These advisory bodies are responsible for making recommendations on a variety of topics to the City Council for consideration and final determination.

The City Council recognizes there is a vast and largely untapped reservoir of talent that exists among the citizenry and encourages public input and citizen participation. The City Council appoints representatives to various local and countywide advisory boards, committees and commissions (boards and commissions).

The general purpose, responsibilities and terms of office for each board and commission were established by their respective ordinance or resolution and in accordance with the policies and guidelines established by the City Council. The City Clerk posts appointment opportunities as they occur for all boards, committees and commissions. The Notice of Vacancy will include the number of vacancies, date, time and location of meetings for the board, committee or commission.



Citizen participation in local government plays an important and active role in the City of Calistoga. The City Council is seeking participation from its diverse and widely experienced citizens, and encourages all citizens to apply. We have one opening to fill on each of these very diverse bodies. 

The following openings are Napa County openings:

     The ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE directs its activities to improving bicycling, walking and other active modes of transportation within the City of Calistoga.  The Committee is made up of five (5) members.  Applicants must reside within the Calistoga School District boundaries.  The Council will appoint one (1) member to this committee to complete the term of 1 vacated position.  The term will end December 31, 2017.  The deadline for applications is Friday, August 25, 2017.

     The CALISTOGA COMMUNITY POOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE is charged with exploring the approved scope, operating assumptions and costs, and funding/financing strategy for the community pool and develops recommendations to the City Council for amendments to these previous recommendations.  The Council will appoint two (2) at large members to this committee.  The term is for 2 years beginning in September.  Committee members shall have residency within the Calistoga Joint Unified School District. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 25, 2017.

    The NAPA COUNTY LOCAL FOOD ADVISORY COUNCIL advises the Agricultural Commission/Sealer of Weights regarding development and facilitation of sustainable local food system, and to provide a forum for public input regarding related issues. The Advisory Council assists Napa County staff in promoting local food production and consumption, in undertaking a review of County regulations to identify and address barriers and opportunities associated with local food production, distribution and access, and in recommending the Napa County Board of Supervisor’s Legislative Subcommittee needed changes in State law for incorporation into the County’s legislative platform. This is a three (3) year term. 

     The NAPA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (NVTA) is creating a permanent Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) to focus on issues related to all modes of transportation - automobile, transit, biking, walking - with a goal of updating the Napa Valley's transportation infrastructure and improving the health and well being of our community. Elected officials from Napa County and its municipalities will each select a member to represent their interests; in addition, the CAC will include members from the wine industry and non-profits in the valley, as well as underrepresented groups. There will be a total of 19 members.
